Anyone For Tennis?

Do you know what the perfect man is? Well if you’ve been watching the tennis you may have seen a few, with the likes of Andy Roddick  and James Blake who has been  named by People magazine as one of their Sexiest Men Alive.  Then there is Feliciano Lopez, this 30-year-old Spaniard has won thousands of fans, thanks to his Mediterranean dark looks and sexy smile, but is this what we really want?

A recent study by clothing company Austin Reed analysed the tastes and preferences of 2,000 British women and came up with a list of 30 traits that made up the 'perfect man'. I’m not going to go through them all but a quick summary is that the perfect man earns £48,000 a year and drives an Audi. He is six foot tall with short dark hair and loves shopping, not sure I’ve met one of them yet!, he also eats meat and watches football, well nothing new there then. But the study also found that women want sensitive men so he should be thoughtful and caring when his wife or girlfriend is upset, and he also needs to ring his mother regularly and want a family of his own. He might even cry during films. Put it all together and it seems British women have some pretty high expectations? Or is that just what we deserve?  The study also highlighted contradictions in what women want, in that we also want that chiselled, toned man, you know a bit of eye candy, and I don’t know about you but Andy Roddick in this picture ticks all the boxes for me with the nicest stomach of the tournament, game, set and match!

And I suppose it wouldn’t be fair to only look at a women’s perspective of what we consider perfect, we had better look at what constitutes a man’s perfect women.

This is also a long list that shines a light into the murky world of the male mind, and is apparently culled from studies and scientific research, but summarising this list what men seem to look for in the 'perfect woman' is, of slim-to-average, but not skinny, build, not a bad start then...is long haired, oh I’ve just cut mine. She has to have a good sense of humour, be optimistic, dependable, bright, though not necessarily academically gifted, can cook and clean and here comes the murky bit..is younger than him, Is good in bed (by 'good' men principally mean enthusiastic) Is shorter than him, Has blue eyes,is a nurse or works in PR and has larger than average boobs, not many surprises there then. The conclusion of the study was that basically men like the “Barbie” look, but with the mother instinct to take care of them……well I’m not sure I’m into Ken!

Anyway we’re not worried are we ladies we have always got shopping and I’ve just had this lovely jackpot hedvige dress, with it’s gorgeous print and nipped in waist we can all feel like Barbie if we wanted to. At least in the tennis we can often get a sneaky look at some ripped muscles, sorry boys there will be no tops off for you. Love all.
